LAWRENCE J. WIELAND, MD Dr. Lawrence Wieland is the founding physician of Redwood Family Practice.  He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Iowa.  He has been practicing medicine since 1974.  His interests are kayaking, gardening and landscaping, varied sports, and spending time with his family.  He was raised on a farm in North Dakota, and is one of thirteen children.  He enjoys working with patients of all ages. MICHAEL BURLESON, MD Dr. Michael Burleson received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Oklahoma. He has been practicing medicine since 1962, and over twenty of those years have been in Eureka, Calif. He says that his favorite part of medicine is to “talk to patients and try to figure out what we need to do.” In his free time he enjoys cooking, gardening, and playing classical music on the piano.

CHIA CHEN, MD Dr. Chia Chen is a graduate of Rush Medical College in Chicago, and completed a Family Medicine residency at U.C. Irvine, Although she enjoys seeing patients ranges from infants to the elderly, she tends to draw female patients, and thus has developed an affinity for women's health issues. Dr. Chen is also interested in Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine.

RODNEY CADE, MD Dr. Rodney Cade received his B.A. in psychology from Stanford University, and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from U.C. San Francisco. He has been a physician in Humboldt County for 22 years. In his free time, he is involved in activities with his four teenage children, and his wife. Dr. Cade particularly enjoys water sports-- surfing, kayaking, skiing, and snowboarding.

HAL GROTKE, MD Dr. Hal Grotke received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California in San Diego. His areas of special interest are adolescent medicine and diabetes care. He is a gourmet cook--particularly in BBQ, French, and Thai cuisine. He has an extensive kite collection and enjoys both building, and flying kites. The uplifting breezes on Samoa beach provide the perfect setting for him to enjoy his kites.

EVA JALOKTZY, MD Dr. Eva Jalkotzy received her Doctor of Medicine Degree from UCSF Medical School. In her free time she is a world-renowned quilt artist. Through her art, she feels she can participate actively in helping to shape a better world. Color attracts her and makes her heart sing.

TIM HASKETT, GNP Tim Haskett is a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, who enjoys caring for elderly patients, and he has special expertise in taking care of patients with Alzheimer’s disease. He also will make home visits for the elderly when necessary. In his free time, he enjoys backpacking, hiking and traveling with his family, and he enjoys playing around with computers.

BUD HRUBY, PA Bud Hruby received his Physician Assistant Degree from Stanford University. He still works on special projects with Stanford in the Physician Assistant program. He has been practicing as a Physician Assistant in the Eureka area since 1974. His favorite part of medicine is the people--he enjoys meeting with patients. His interests outside of medicine are reading, fly fishing, hunting, raising horses and mules on a small farm, and he is currently learning how to raise blueberries.

DOUG JORNLIN, RN Doug Jornlin completed nursing school in 1994. His favorite part of medicine is educating people about their health. He tries to relieve patient anxiety by being compassionate and upbeat. In his free time, he enjoys backpacking, collecting wild mushrooms, listening to music and writing poetry and stories.

BRUCE SILVEY, MFT Bruce Silvey is a counselor, who works well with couples, individuals, and families. He has worked as a counselor in Humboldt County since 1983.  He has specialized training in working with post traumatic stress, and a special interest in working with adoption related issues.  In his leisure time, he enjoys ranching and parenting.

DEBBIE LEE, OFFICE MANAGER Debbie Lee is an office manager with twenty years of experience in medical offices.  She  oversees all  aspects of our operation, and keeps our medical practice running smoothly.  She has integrity, and is well respected by our staff.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, exploring computers, and traveling.
