"Redwood Family Practice, How can I help you?"

OUR POLICIES

What are your office hours?  Can I reach my doctor outside those hours?
We are open for appointments Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A physician is available on call every day of the year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  In an emergency call our office number (443-4593) any time of the day or night.

How do I make an appointment and how will my appointment work?
To make an appointment please call 443-4593.  Please explain to the receptionist the nature of your visit, so enough time can be allotted.
New Patients: If you have not filled out a brief medical history and a registration form prior to your first appointment, please arrive 30 minutes before your first appointment to fill out these forms.  Also be sure to bring your current insurance card.
Established Patients: Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment, so you can be moved into an exam room, and be ready to see a physician or a nurse practitioner on schedule.  For each visit bring all medications or a complete list (including over-the-counter drugs) of all the medications you are currently taking.  This assists with making sure your medical records are current and accurate.  Always bring your medical insurance cards.  If, for some reason, you cannot keep a scheduled appointment or will be delayed, please call as soon as possible.

What is your policy regarding prescriptions and refills?
If your prescription has automatic refills, call your pharmacy directly for a refill.  If your prescription does not have automatic refills, call your pharmacist, who will then call our office and arrange for the refill if it is appropriate--allow 48 hours for processing. Sometimes refills are not made if follow-up appointments are not kept.  Follow-up appointments are very important to properly manage medication.

Can I freely ask my physician questions and easily communicate with him/her?
We make a special effort to explain everything to you regarding your condition, and medications.  If you ever have questions, or something is not clear to you, please do not hesitate to ask.

Do you have nurse practitioners?  What role do they play?
In addition to our staff of physicians, we are delighted to have  well-trained women nurse practitioners to assist with womenís health care, and other needs of our patients under the guidance of our physicians.

What insurance plans do you take?  How do I pay for my care?

Redwood Family Practice is a certified provider of Medicare and Medi-Cal, as well as Preferred Provider Organizations such as Blue Cross, Blue Shield, and many others.  We will bill all insurances as a courtesy to you.
Because we bill your insurance for you, we ask you to assign all payments from your insurance company to our office.  Remember, though, that you are responsible for any co-payment or deductible that will not be paid by your insurance policy.
Please remember that all balances are due in full within 30 days of the initial billing.  If you are unable to pay the balance in full, it is your responsibility to contact our billing department and discuss your situation.
Keep in mind, that there may be times when full payment will be mandatory at the time of service.  In such a case, we will bill your insurance, and refund any payment  due to you.
As the patient, it is your responsibility to know your insurance coverage.  If your insurance has certain limitations; for example, coverage only at certain hospitals or other facilities, please let us know, so any referrals we make for you will be covered by your insurance.
And most importantly, if you have any questions regarding your bill, please do not hesitate to call our office and share your concerns.
